Important Election Information
To students
in the Washington University Community:This is a
reminder that Tuesday, November 4 is ELECTION DAY. The polls will be open from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm. This election is expected to have the
highest voter turnout in history. Please allow ample time to vote (at least
one to two hours).
Please note
that state law prohibits electioneering or the wearing of anything identifiable
with a candidate, party, or issue (t-shirts, buttons, signs, hats, etc.) within
25 feet of the polling location.
If you are
registered to vote in Missouri (the deadline to register was October 8), you
should have received a postcard with your polling location. Below are common polling locations for
students:
- If you live on the South 40, your card will say
“One Brookings Drive” as the polling location. The actual location is Friedman
Lounge in the Wohl Center.
- If you live in Fraternities (Upper and Lower
Row, and ZBT), Millbrook Apartments, The Village, or Village East, your polling
location is Our Lady of Lourdes Church,
7148 Forsyth Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63105.
- If you live in Greenway (6600 Washington Ave.)
or University Drive (6607, 6627, 6633, 6639, 6649, 6645, 6801, 6811 Washington
Ave.) your polling location is Trinity Presbyterian
Church, 6600 Washington Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63130.
- If you live in Rosedale (340, 346 Rosedale;
6047, 6053, 6055 Waterman), or Horse-Shoe (6136, 6158, 6162, 6168, 6170
Waterman), your polling location is St. Roch’s Church, 6040 Waterman, St. Louis, MO 63112.
- If you live in Loop Lofts (1019 N. Skinker Blvd.) your polling location is West Presbyterian Church, 5872 Maple
Ave., 63112.
- If your residence is not included in the list
above, please visit the Vote Missouri website at http://www.sos.mo.gov/elections/goVoteMissouri/elections.aspx to verify your polling location. This website includes other information such
as acceptable forms of ID (Washington University student IDs and out-of-state
driver’s licenses are accepted), the voter bill of rights, and ballot measures
and candidates.
Continuous,
specially marked shuttles will be available from 8:00am-8:00pm to several of
these polling locations.
- The shuttle serving Our Lady of Lourdes will
stop at the Mallinckrodt bus depot and on Snow Way Drive, outside of the
Village.
- The shuttle serving Trinity Presbyterian Church
and St. Roch’s Church will stop at the Mallinckrodt
bus depot, twice along University Drive and once on Washington Ave.
- For Loop Lofts residents, a car pool is
available. Contact your Resident
Advisor for more information.
The November
4 ballot is very lengthy. To be
informed of the candidates and issues, consult both local and national news
sources. Should you experience a
problem at the polls, please call the national voter assistance hotline at
1-866-OUR-VOTE.
